BRISK SALES AND STRONG VISITOR NUMBERS AT SITEX 2011
Singapore, 27 November 2011 – The 23rd edition of SITEX concluded its four-day run with topnotch results, attracting bargain hunters and gadget enthusiasts from all over the island and beyond with visitorship numbers hitting close to 900,000, and sales figures coming in at S$45 to S$50 million. SITEX is organised by the Singapore infocomm Technology Federation (SiTF) and managed by Singex Exhibition Ventures Pte Ltd.
Consumer Spending Buoyed By Attractive Bargain and Bundle Deals
Eddie Chau, Chairman of Singapore infocomm Technology Federation, the organiser of SITEX, “Singaporeans seem to have an insatiable appetite for consumer electronics. With cautious optimism hovering over the economy, consumer spending was certainly buoyed by attractive bargains and bundle deals offered by the exhibitors. Many were happy to walk away with value deals on tablet PCs, laptops, digital cameras, GPS Navigation systems, Smart TVs and many other in-demand consumer electronic hardware and software products.”
A spokesperson from Sony Singapore, a long-time exhibitor of the show, pleased with this year’s turnout had this to say, “Sales of all our products have been encouraging but in particular our VAIO notebooks and Tablet S have been selling extremely well.”
Toshiba who recently launched its latest laptop model, Portégé Z830 shared that major shows like SITEX serve as excellent platforms to generate interest and awareness of new products to masses.
Toshiba’s Assistant Marketing & Communications Manager from the company’s Digital Products & Service Division, Ms. Mary Lim revealed, “A major show like SITEX does certainly lend clout that brands like Toshiba use to leverage and create more sales opportunities and awareness. The takeup rates of our newly launched Toshiba Portégé Z830 and Toshiba Qosmio DX730 have been well received since the first day of the show, which is a strong indication that consumers do recognise Toshiba as their preferred choice, a testament to the brand’s strong reputation in providing quality and leading technology.”
Mr. Rodney Chia, Marketing Manager for Gavio, shared, “The crowd’s response has exceeded our expectations by far and it has been an honour standing beside the world’s leading brands not in competition but in good fun as we provide value and quality to customers.”
Ms. Carolina Ng, Head of Marketing and Corporate Communications for EpiCentre, the region’s leading Apple Premium Reseller who presented its Popular iPavilion concept and featured the largest range of exclusive Apple-complementary products at the show shared, “Sales was extremely encouraging this year with the Luna Tik iPod Nano Watch being one of the best selling items at the show. Our exclusive Mac Specials that came with free keyboard protectors, Bluetooth mouses, laptop stands, speakers, vouchers and memberships worth almost S$450 were also well received with shoppers.”
More Jaw-dropping Value and Rewards
General shopaholics, veteran bargain hunters, including gizmo fanatics had more to look forward to this year, as show organisers rolled out more rewards and value for visitors. Visitors were treated to 16 Daily Special Deals on the latest IT and consumer electronic products -12 more deals than the year before, hourly movie ticket giveaways to Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows (more than 400 pairs were given away during the show), a lucky draw that allowed visitors to pick their prizes (“All I Want For X’Mas Lucky Draw) and an instant lucky dip catered just for the fairer sex (Ladies Go Tech Lucky Dip).
The main highlight for visitors this year was the real-time stream of information on exclusive show deals and highlights through the show’s social media networks, Facebook and Twitter. Real-time updates started three days before the show, providing its base of over 10,000 on Facebook the latest show information from 9am to 9pm daily from 20 to 27 November. The next exciting edition of SITEX will be held at Singapore EXPO from 22 to 25 November 2012.
